Get the Look with Valeria Ferreira: Strong, Modern Princess
Celebrity makeup artist Valeria Ferreira walks us through how she created one of her favorite looks: Naomi Scott's Princess Jasmine-inspired look for the Aladdin movie premiere in 2019.
Valeria Ferreira, a London-based celebrity makeup artist originally from Uruguay, is best known for keeping her clients' makeup looks fresh and modern all while elevating one's natural beauty. What better way to do that than with a 2019 twist on a famous princess look? In this "Get The Look" piece, we learn all about how Naomi Scott was given the royal treatment with a modern twist, as told by Valeria herself!
For Naomi Scott’s look I created for the Aladdin premiere in Los Angeles last year, I got inspired by the amazing character Princess Jasmine. The concept of a modern princess made me dream of a Disney princess in 2019, who wears her hair up or in braids. She is strong and independent, unique, and full of confidence. The look celebrates Naomi’s Indian features, embracing her olive skin tone and playing with a dramatic and unexpected touch of color — the aubergine lipstick.
Step 1: Even out your skin.
I used La Mer Cushion Foundation in shade 41 with a Fenty Beauty sponge.
Step 2: Contour.
I used Huda Beauty Contour Cream in the shade medium, and I illuminated with the Rodial Beauty Banana Lowlighter.
Step 3: Frame your brows.
Fill in the gaps following the direction of your hair growth, then give a final touch with Glossier Brow Flick.
Step 4: Time for eyes!
Apply the Stila liquid eye shadow as a base, then add the Marc Jacobs rose gold shade of shadow with a flat brush or your fingertip. Make sure to blend, then follow up to design your winged eyeliner.
Step 5: Use a dense brush to get rid of any unwanted shine.
I used Charlotte Tilbury powder in shade 2. Tissue any excess oil on your lips and highlight the rim of your lips. Then, follow that by lining the lips — I used MAC lip liner in the shade Vino.
Step 6: Work on the shape and fill in the corners of your mouth with lip liner.
Then, use the lipstick mainly in the center of the lip. I used Fenty Beauty Matte-Moiselle lipstick in the shade Griselda.
