Q+A with Esthetician & Beauty Expert Liz Kennedy

Liz Kennedy on how she got to bringing her expertise to TV, her thoughts on natural skincare, and more.

Liz Kennedy is an esthetician and beauty expert known for bringing her expertise to the masses on-screen, whether that's on her own digital makeover series, on the Steve Harvey show, or on other TV networks across the country. Not only that, but she's also a member of the Citizen Cosmetic's Advisory Board and is in the midst of product development for a new skincare tool. A true skincare "jack of all trades", we were excited to hear from Liz about how she got her start in skincare, what her favorite parts of her job are, and of course what her go-to products are. Read on for more!

Q: How did you get into skincare?

I became a licensed esthetician seven years ago after being obsessed with skin for so long that I decided to take action and get the proper education behind it.

Q: You’ve spent a great deal of your career bringing your skincare and beauty knowledge to the masses on programs like Steve Harvey and several others. How did you end up down that career path and what has that unique experience taught you?

I fell into TV completely by accident! When I was in nursing school I started becoming a spokesperson for a brand called SKYN Iceland and that led me to start doing beauty segments on New York LIVE, etc. The experience taught me that I love educating on-air and being authentic. Too many TV hosts fit a square box and don't just have fun! I wanted to mix education with fun; skincare and beauty should be a great experience, not mundane.

Q: What do you love the most about what you do?

Educating people on how to use things properly brings me happiness! I grew up with a tomboy single mom and had to teach myself everything solo. With that said, I get how frustrating beauty is to navigate, so that's why I love educating. I truly enjoy making women look and feel beautiful.

Q: You’re currently developing a new skincare tool called Beauty Magnet. Can you share a bit about the product? What is your favorite part about being a part of the creation process?

Skincare tools are such an effective way to make your skincare work for YOU. I created a multi-use skincare tool so that you no longer waste time searching for your skincare tools and bothering your significant other asking where something is. My favorite part about the creation process is meeting like-minded people and getting excited about creating something the market needs.

Q: What is your best advice for someone who is struggling to find a skin routine that works for them?

Emailing me for a skincare consultation!

Q: What is a myth about skincare that you want to debunk?

That "natural" skincare is the end all be all — chemicals are in skincare for a reason.

Q: What is one product everyone should be using, no matter what their skin type?

SPF, always!

Q: Finally, what do you wish people were talking more about in skincare?

The benefits of at-home derma rolling in order to help penetrate skincare deeper.

Rapid Fire Round
