Our conversation with Pati is brimming with insight on her favorite skincare devices, the makeup products she can't live without, and more.
Q: How did you get into makeup?
I was the little kid who was magnetically drawn to my mother’s makeup table. I knew at age 10 I wanted to do this when I grew up, but back then it wasn’t as clear what a makeup artist career could be. I held onto that spark of interest, and it has led to a deeper love of the intricacies of makeup artistry.
Q: How would you describe your style as a makeup artist?
I am very interested in health and well-being, and I hope that interest shows through in the makeup I do. Healthy, real skin, and some watercolor-like touches of color.
Q: What do you love most about your work?
I love helping women feel like the best version of themselves. I love that my work is all about beauty and color. I love the amazing women I have the good fortune to work with. I feel very, very lucky.
Q: Where do you find inspiration?
I am a total nature girl, so I often look to Mother Earth and her wonders for inspiration. Nothing beats the colors of nature.
Q: What are some essential products you always keep in your kit?
ZIIP and ReFa devices to enliven and recontour face, Augustinus Bader face and body creams, Weleda skin food, Chanel lipsticks and mascaras.
Q: Can you walk us through what you’ve been using for your nighttime skincare routine as of late?
First, remove all makeup with Bioderma Sensibio H2O micellar water, Weleda gentle cleanser, or the IS Clinical cleansing complex which I also love. I often use a mask, lately True Botanicals Detoxifying Mask, and I also love Image Skincare Vital C Mask. I then use a gentle resurfacing agent; I especially love 111SKIN Retinol Oil and IS Clinical Pro Heal Serum. On days I forgo the resurfacing, I load up on hydration like Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream.
