Q: How did you get into hair?
I originally got into hair sort of by accident. I wanted a job for spending money, so my mum helped me get a summer job at the local hair salon when I was just 13 years old. Long story short, I ended up feeling so at home in that environment, I eventually begged my mom to let me leave school and pursue hair full time.
Q: How would you describe your style as a hairstylist? What’s your beauty philosophy?
I try not to have a "style" and approach every job with completely fresh eyes. One of the best parts of my job is the creative process, so I don't like to rely on go-to styles or techniques. To me, beauty is just a tool for confidence and self-expression.
Q: What do you love most about your work?
I'm lucky that I get to work in a field I genuinely love with some of the smartest, kindest women on the planet.
Q: Where do you find inspiration?
I find a lot of inspiration from the past. When I was first starting out in my career, I spent hours in the library in Paris memorizing editorial photo shoots and really studying fashion references. I still pull on a lot of those references, but there's also a lot of inspiration to be found everywhere these days; I've been known to get lost on the Instagram explore page from time to time!
Q: When you think of all of the looks you’ve created, is there a favorite that comes to mind? What is it?
To be honest, my favorites change all the time. One that comes to mind is the look we did for Kylie at the 2018 Met Gala. We had a lot of fun coming up with this style and I love how it complements her overall look.
