Q+A with Hollywood's Leading Brow Expert Damone Roberts

Brow expert Damone Roberts sits down with us to discuss his brow philosophy and go-to tips for using brows to frame your face perfectly.

Damone Roberts is a Los Angeles-based brow expert whose philosophy is simple: “every face deserves the perfect frame.” He is known for shaping the brows of some of the world’s most famous faces, including Madonna, Beyoncé, Oprah, and Rihanna, to name a few. When it comes to brows, you can’t get much better than Damone, which is why we were excited to chat with him to learn all his tips for getting perfect brows.

Q: If you could sum up your brow philosophy, what would it be?

Every face deserves the perfect frame. Find the best shape for you and stick with it, regardless of the shape currently trending.

Q: What's your best advice for someone who may not know what brow shape suits them best?

Fuller brows are always best as they tend to make one look softer. Thinner brows can make one look harsher. Don’t take off too much on your own. We created products like “Brow Gain” to expedite the growing process. The less tweezing is always the most complimentary way to find the best shape for you.

Q: What do you love the most about what you do?

Showing people how the brow is the single most important, underestimated feature on the face. We can take off 10 years, and even 10 lbs, by framing the face appropriately, just by shaping the brow correctly and finishing with the proper product.

Q: What are three must-do's for brow care?

1. Brush up with my clear brow gel (this simple procedure in itself opens up the eye).
2. Trim the brow hairs. All hair (especially over the eyes) needs to be trimmed at some point.
3. Don’t tweeze too far apart in between brows and underneath. Just clean up the strays. A little goes a long way.

Q: What is something you wish people would stop doing to their brows?

Stop using eyeliner pencils to fill in your brows! Eyebrow pencils are called eyebrow pencils for a reason. I design mine to accentuate, not take over.

Q: Brow trends have changed a ton over the years - where do you see them evolving next?

People are slowly stepping away from “microblading” and getting more interested in “brow lamination,” a technique that perms the brow hairs in the same direction to add a bit more drama and control.

Q: What is one product everyone needs in their routine - no matter what their brow type?

The Damone Roberts Brow Gel, whether it’s the tinted version (5 shades), or the clear version. People want quick and functional, and if you can put all that under the “cruelty free” banner, and it actually serves its purpose, you’re golden!
